CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE! Live town hall forum today with field agent Rick Staggenborg. Organizing a Democracy Movement in Eugene. Please join us in this open discussion and organizing meeting. Corporations have stolen the rights of a person and due to this corporate personhood they are able to use our democratic system against us. The Citizens United SupremeCourt ruling one year ago was a continuation of this trend and gave corporations further power over people. As corporations fund candidates and election campaigns, our democracy is corrupted and becomes accountable to the funders, not the people. We are forming a coalition to ask the City Council to pass a resolution reaffirming the principles of democracy and the appropriate role of corporations. This same effort is going on in cities across the country and we wish to join in this important struggle.
