Saturday, August 27th, 2011 : Corporate CEO’s and “The Supremes,” the 5 justices of the Robert’s court who voted to allow money as ‘free speech’ in the 2010 “Citizen’s United” ruling, escorted the robber baron, Mr. Big, down the street in the 2011 Eugene Celebration Parade.
We The People followed them, wagging our fingers, singing “Stop, in the name of love! Before you break my heart. Think it over” and chanting “Power to the People, Not the Corporations!”
The theme of the Celebration this year was “Raise the Roof,” and We The People concluded our statement by calling out, “Raise the roof to ABOLISH CORPORATE PERSONHOOD!!!”
Eugene showed incredible support for us, in a dazzling confirmation of word on the streets that 80% of the people in American believe corporations to have too much power!
The parade was a blast – we saw a phenomenal outcome from the many hours invested in visioning, planning, organizing, working and rehearsing!
A huge Thank you to all the people who helped make this happen, and to Eugene for such a warm welcome!
